CRM Accuracy

Your Salesforce is full of data. None of it is accurate.

Most sales organizations don’t have a CRM adoption problem — reps log activity, stages get updated, reports run on schedule. What they have is a CRM accuracy problem: the data is complete, and wrong. Full pipelines full of stale close dates, "committed" deals with no recent contact, and stage advancement that reflects hope more than progress.

Why more CRM training doesn’t fix it

The instinct when data looks unreliable is to retrain reps on the tool — better field hygiene, clearer stage definitions, more mandatory fields. This treats a behavior problem as a knowledge problem. Reps usually know exactly how to use Salesforce correctly. They update it the way they do because nobody has made accuracy the standard their manager actually enforces.

Data hygiene isn’t a training outcome. It’s a management outcome.

What "qualifying a deal in Salesforce" should actually mean

A deal moving into an advanced stage in the CRM should reflect something that’s actually true, not something a rep is hoping becomes true. Before a stage change goes in:

If a stage change can’t survive that question, it shouldn’t go in — and a manager who never asks that question is training the team that any stage change will do.

The fix lives in the pipeline review, not the CRM

Data hygiene improves the same way pipeline accuracy improves: at the manager layer, in the weekly review, where a manager either holds the standard for what counts as "real" or doesn’t. When managers consistently ask reps to justify a stage change against the actual evidence, the CRM starts reflecting reality — not because the tool changed, but because the standard did.

100% CRM adoption across a $500M organization didn’t come from a better Salesforce configuration. It came from rebuilding the behaviors and management standard behind what gets entered — and holding it, week after week.
